SPRINTCAR
Peter first started driving a sprintcar in the 2004/2005 season at Parramatta City Raceway.
Sprintcars are simple and brutally powerful. They spend most of their time scrambling for traction, broad sliding around corners, wheels standuing on the straights, and throwing clay into the stands, while the driver wrestles frantically with the steering wheel. They race alonside up to 25 others, competiing for first position on a track 16m wide and 400m long.
TOP DOORSLAMMER
Drag racing has been a life long ambition for Peter. From a young age he spent all of his spare time in the family shed watching, learning and working towards fulfilling his dreams of one day driving his father’s Top Doorslammer. In recent years Peter took on the role of crew chief, but on the 6th August 2006 his dream came true - Peter was handed the driving role from his father.
Top Doorslammer is Group One drag racing and is the quickest sedan racing in the world, with speeds approaching 250mph (approx 500kmh) across a quarter mile drag strip in 6.00 secs. Two cars line up and race for the finish line, pulling 3g’s off the start and up to negative 5g’s when the twin parachutes are deployed. The hardest thing to do is to drive a Top Doorslammer drag car straight providing arguably the most exciting and competitive racing in all drag racing.
